EU Nations Junior Men 2025: eight teams, one goal

The spotlight of European youth water polo turns to the EU Nations Junior Men 2025, taking place from November 14–16. Eight national and developmental teams will compete across three days, showcasing the next generation of European talent.

This year’s preparations were not without challenges, as several teams had to withdraw from the competition. Notably, Ukraine, last year’s champions, are unable to participate due to circumstances beyond the sport. Organizers and teams alike expressed their regret and hope to see Ukraine return to future editions of the tournament.

To maintain a full schedule, the lineup has been expanded to include B teams from Czechia and Slovakia, offering valuable experience to younger players. The rest of the field features Austria, Poland, Sweden, and Scotland, ensuring a balanced and competitive mix.

Notably, Austria, Poland, and Sweden, teams that did not participate in the 2024 edition of the tournament. It will be interesting to watch how these new teams perform in the tournament. Group phase runs through Saturday, followed by placement and semifinal matches leading to Sunday’s conclusion.

The tournament is split into two groups:

Group A: Czechia A, Slovakia A, Sweden, Scotland

Group B: Austria, Poland, Czechia B, Slovakia B

Slovakia, which finished in third place last year, is the most successful team from the current field of participants. Games begin on Friday morning, with Slovakia facing Scotland in the opening match. The Czech A team will make their debut later that day against Slovakia A.
